Our Facility

The Ambulance Authority’s Central facility is located in downtown Charleston, West Virginia at 601 Brooks Street. Recent renovations have brought about a newly enveloped 35,000 square foot campus type complex that houses all departments, from Administration to Maintenance. In addition, several state of the art training rooms, including an Auditorium, allow the Authority to provide on-going, comprehensive training programs to EMS providers both inside and outside of the organization.

THE DILLON ROOM

During the early 1980’s, Paramedic Carlos W. Dillon, and WV State Trooper, Corporal Carlen Bill Stone, were tragically killed when the MEDEVAC helicopter in which they were transporting a critically ill patient, crashed during a snow storm. In recognition of the heroism and the many years of EMS service that Carlos had acquired, a special room and memorial plaque were dedicated in his honor. Over time, the Dillon Room has been utilized for a variety of purposes, from educational training centers to meeting rooms. The memorial plaque that had originally been hung for Carlos is still present, ever reminding us how fragile life can be, even for those called to respond in an emergency.

THE AUDITORIUM

This part of our facility enables us to provide EMS and hospital based training sessions for up to 125 students. Equipped with state of the art sound and projection system, participants receive the most advanced training in this stellar atmosphere.

COMPUTER LAB

The KCEAA Computer lab is equipped with eight work stations that provide in-house training on everything from basic email skills for new hires to advanced billing and communications updates for existing programs.

OPERATIONS

This is home to the 24 hour Medical Transport fleet. In addition to being a main station for crews, the building also houses the Chief of Operations, Field Supervisor's and Community Relations.
